When does the Pirate token leave Fortnite?

The short answer to “when does the Pirate token leave” is around December 5, 2026. The token is a chest reward tied to the Treasure Hunters mini-season, which started on November 1, and the wiki lists it as available through the whole season.[6] Once the season ends, chests should stop dropping it.

What leaves on that date is the chance to find a token. Your free shop time works on a separate calendar, which is where most of the confusion comes from. Someone asking when the Pirate token leaves usually wants one of two answers: how long they can keep hunting, or how long they can wait before activating. Those answers are ten days apart.

The 2026 deadline comes from timesaver.gg's reading of the in-game text.[3] Fortnite Tracker reports the same two windows, but from a leak.[13] Neither is an Epic announcement, so check your in-game Shop screen if a date on it ever differs from ours. The game wins.

How sure is the December 5 date?

We rechecked this on November 7, 2026. Epic has named December 5 for the Chapter 7 end event and every outlet we read agrees on the day, but nobody gives an hour, and that's why we still write “est.”

Esports Tales [14]Ends December 5, with no way to predict the time of dayNo

Epic's post names an end event, not the moment the season closes. No source says outright that tokens stop at that moment either: that follows from the token being a Treasure Hunters reward. The hour in our countdown is a placeholder too. Plan to finish hunting a day early and a late change won't cost you anything.

No token yet? What you can still do before it leaves

What to do before the Pirate token leaves, depending on whether you hold a tokenDo you hold a token? No: keep opening chestsuntil about Dec 5 (est.)Yes: press Activate Nowby Dec 15, 6 PM GMT-6Finish a day early: no hour is publishedYour 14 days start when you press it
Hunting ends first. Activating can wait about ten more days.

Your overall odds depend on how many chests you can still open. Epic hasn't published a drop rate, so this table uses the figures in circulation and two assumptions between them, not a promise. It assumes about 6 chests per match and 28 days left in the season.

Matches a dayChests left1 in 2,0001 in 10,0001 in 100,0001 in 700,000

Each cell is the chance of at least one token in the chests you have left. 1 in 2,000 is a leaker's unofficial estimate, 1 in 700,000 is an unconfirmed figure from Reddit, and the two in between are our assumptions. Read more on the Fortnite token chance page, or feel the numbers in the chest simulator.

  • Open more chests per match. It's the one thing you control, and it doesn't change the rate per chest.
  • Play in a squad. A token found by one player is reportedly shared with the squad, though it's unconfirmed for random fill teammates.[1][2]
  • Don't wait for the last weekend. With no published hour, the final day could be shorter than you expect, especially around a live event.

Already have a token? When it expires

When the Pirate token leaves chests, your token stays put. It waits in the Item Shop until you press Activate Now, and the 14 days start at that moment.[1][3] So you have until the 2026 deadline to choose your start. Activating minutes before it still gives you 14 full days, ending around December 29. Miss it and you lose only the 2026 window.

Four mistakes to avoid before the token leaves

  1. Treating December 5 as your activation deadline. It isn't. You have until December 15 to press the button.
  2. Treating December 15 as the last day to hunt. Chests should stop well before that.
  3. Forgetting the time zone. 6:00 PM GMT-6 is already December 16 across much of the world.
  4. Trusting anyone who offers a token. Tokens only come from chests inside the game, so a site promising one after the season is a scam.

What happens after the Pirate token leaves?

Once Treasure Hunters ends, we expect no new tokens, and nothing changes for tokens already earned. The 2026 window can still be activated until the deadline, and the second window reportedly opens on January 1, 2027. Items you claim reportedly stay in your locker after a window closes, according to early winners rather than Epic.

If you came here asking when does the Pirate token leave because a friend says it's already gone, check the countdown at the top of this page first. We'll update it, and the dates above, as soon as Epic publishes an hour or moves the date.

Pirate token end date FAQ

When does the Pirate token leave Fortnite?

Around December 5, 2026 (estimated). It's a Treasure Hunters reward, so chests should stop dropping it when the mini-season ends. Epic hasn't published an exact hour.

When does the Pirate token end?

Two things end at different times. Drops are expected to end around December 5, 2026. The chance to activate your 2026 window ends on December 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM GMT-6.

Does the Pirate token expire?

How long is the Pirate token available?

How long does the Pirate Shop last after I activate it?

14 days from the moment you press Activate Now. The timer keeps running whether or not you play.

What time does the Pirate token leave?

Nobody outside Epic knows yet. Our countdown uses a placeholder hour, so treat December 5 as a date and don't plan around the final hours.

Will the Pirate token come back after Treasure Hunters?

Nothing we've read says it will. Assume it won't, and don't count on a second chance after the season.
