1. Go to the lobby. Launch Fortnite and stay in the lobby. You cannot activate from inside a match.
2. Open the Shop tab. Select Shop in the top menu to open the Item Shop.
3. Select Plunder the Item Shop. In the bottom-right corner, select “Plunder the Item Shop”. It only appears if your account holds a token.
4. Press Activate Now. Choose Activate Now and confirm. The 14-day timer starts immediately.
5. Claim items. Prices on V-Bucks items now show as free. Claim what you want until the timer ends.

What happens after you press Activate Now

The moment you confirm, every item sold for V-Bucks shows a price of zero for your account. You claim items one by one the same way you'd buy them, and they go straight into your locker. The window lasts exactly 14 days, counted to the minute from when you activated. It does not reset at midnight and it does not pause when you're offline.^[1][4]

That's why this page asks for the time, not just the date. Activate at 11:30 PM and your last free minute is 11:30 PM fourteen days later, not the start of that day. When does the Pirate Shop token expire?

The token gives you two windows, and each has its own rules.^[1][4][3]

• 2026 window: must be activated by December 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM GMT-6, which is midnight UTC going into December 16. This comes from the in-game reward text as reported by timesaver.gg. If you miss it, only the 2026 window is lost.^[3]
• 2027 window: reportedly available from January 1, 2027 and must be activated by December 15, 2027. TheGamer describes it more loosely as “all of 2027”, so treat the exact cutoff as unconfirmed.^[4]
• The token itself can't be transferred or traded, so there's no way to hand a window you won't use to a friend.

The 2026 deadline in your time zone

Notice that players in Asia and Australia hit the deadline on the morning of December 16 local time. If you're there, the “December 15” headline is misleading in your favour, but don't count on the extra hours if Epic adjusts the time.

Activate now or wait? A quick checklist

There's no single right moment, because the 14 days are worth whatever the Item Shop happens to sell while they run. These questions settle it for most players:

• Is something you really want in the shop today? If yes and it leaves soon, activate now. A guaranteed item beats a hypothetical better window.
• Are you likely to forget? Be honest. A window used in November is better than a 2026 window lost on December 16.
• Will you be able to play during the 14 days? Claiming takes a minute per item, but you need to open the game regularly to catch each daily rotation. Don't start a window right before a trip.
• Is a big update or collab expected soon? If credible leaks point to one within the deadline, waiting to cover it can be worth it. Unconfirmed rumours aren't.

Common activation mistakes

• Activating the instant you find it. It's tempting, but the shop rotates daily. Watch the daily Item Shop value for a few days, unless you know you'll forget.
• Waiting until the last evening. Server queues, a patch or a long match can eat your final hour. Set the calendar reminder and activate a day early.
• Assuming the window ends at midnight. It ends at the same minute you activated, 14 days later.
• Forgetting the Sidekick rule. Only one Sidekick you don't own can be claimed free, so pick the one you actually want.
• Trusting a “token activation” website. Activation only happens inside Fortnite. Any site asking for your Epic login to “activate” or “unlock” the Pirate Shop is a scam.

Plunder the Item Shop button missing?

Work through these in order:

1. Make sure you're signed in to the same Epic account you played on when the token dropped.
2. Restart Fortnite so the shop reloads after the reward is granted.
3. Check you actually saw “YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS”. Some chest pop-ups look similar.
4. If a squadmate found it, remember squad sharing is reported, not confirmed by Epic, and it's unclear whether random fill teammates qualify.
