Which costs more?

Two items from today's shop. Pick the pricier one.

How to play the Item Shop price game

Each round shows two items currently for sale in the Fortnite Item Shop. Tap the one you think costs more V-Bucks. The prices flip over, the correct card lights up green, and the next pair appears. There are no ties: we never pair two items with the same price.

  • Daily challenge: ten fixed questions built from today's shop. Everyone playing today gets the same ten, so your score is directly comparable with friends. A new set appears after the shop rotates at 00:00 UTC.
  • Endless streak: random pairs until you get one wrong. Your longest streak is saved on this device.

Scores and streaks stay in your browser. There's no sign-up, no leaderboard and no data sent anywhere, which also means clearing your browser data resets your records.

Today's price tiers by item type

The fastest way to get better at the game is to learn the shop's pricing ladder. Epic prices most cosmetics in fixed tiers based on type and rarity, then layers bundles, discounts and collab premiums on top. Here's how today's single offers break down:

Tips for a longer streak

  • Type beats looks. An outfit almost always costs more than a back bling or wrap, however flashy the accessory is. Check the type label first.
  • Offers with extras cost more. Many outfits come with a matching back bling in the same offer, which pushes the price into a higher tier.
  • Collabs carry a premium. Licensed characters tend to sit at the top of the outfit range.
  • Jam Tracks are flat. Most Jam Tracks share one price, so when one appears, compare against that anchor.
  • Watch for discounts. The game uses today's final price, so a discounted outfit can lose to a full-price emote.

How Fortnite Item Shop prices are set

Item Shop prices aren't random. Most single offers land on a small set of round V-Bucks values, and which one an item gets depends mostly on what kind of item it is and how it's packaged. Today's shop has 298 single offers but only 12 distinct prices. The most common one is 500 V-Bucks, shared by 143 offers. Once you've seen a handful of rounds, you start recognising those anchor prices.

Three things move an item up or down the ladder:

  • Item type. Outfits sit at the top, followed by pickaxes, gliders and emotes, with wraps, back blings and similar accessories at the bottom. The tier table above shows the spread for today.
  • What's in the offer. A single offer can contain more than one cosmetic, such as an outfit with its matching back bling. More pieces usually means a higher tier.
  • Rarity and licensing. Higher-rarity and collaboration items tend to cost more than common ones of the same type.

A worked example from today: Monkey D. Luffy (Outfit) costs 1,800 V-Bucks, while Calavera Case (Back Bling) costs 200. If those two came up as a pair, the type label alone would give you the answer, without needing to know either item.

Discounts, bundles and other traps

The game always uses the final price, the one you'd actually pay today. That matters because 0 single offers in today's shop are discounted from their regular price. A discounted outfit can drop below a full-price emote, which is exactly the kind of pair that ends streaks.

Bundles are left out of the question pool on purpose. A bundle price depends on how many items are inside and how big the bundle discount is, so comparing a bundle with a single emote would be a test of reading the contents list, not of knowing the shop. The Jam Track anchor works the other way: most tracks share one price, so a Jam Track in a pair tells you the exact number on one side.

What your score actually means

Every question has two options, so a pure guess is right half the time. That gives a useful baseline for judging a result:

ResultChance by guessing alone
Daily: 10/100.1% (1 in 1,024)
Daily: 9/10 or better1.1%
Daily: 7/10 or better17.2%
Endless: streak of 5+3.1%
Endless: streak of 10+0.1%

So a 7 or 8 on the daily challenge is decent but within reach of luck, while a 9 or 10 means you really know the shop. In endless mode, anything past five in a row is unlikely to be luck. Because the daily set is the same for everyone, comparing scores with friends is fair: you all faced the same ten pairs.

Daily challenge or endless streak?

The daily challenge rewards consistency: one wrong answer costs a point but doesn't end the game, so it's worth thinking each pair through. Play it once, share the score, and come back after the next rotation for a new set.

Endless mode is sudden death, so it rewards caution. When you're unsure, fall back on the type rule (outfits beat accessories) rather than gut feeling about how an item looks. Pairs are random each time, so replaying is a good way to learn today's price anchors before trying the daily challenge.

From “which costs more?” to what to claim first

The same instinct the game trains is useful when a Pirate Shop token is active. If two items you want are both leaving tomorrow and you only have time to claim one tonight, the pricier one is usually the better grab, because it's the one you'd least want to pay for later. Price isn't everything, though: an item you'll actually use beats an expensive one you won't. Think of the price game as practice for reading the shop quickly, and the haul planner as the place to make the real decisions.

Why a price game on a Pirate Shop token site?

The Pirate Shop token makes everything sold for V-Bucks free for 14 days. Knowing what things actually cost is the same skill as knowing what's worth grabbing first: the pricier the item, the more value you get by claiming it with the token. If you hold a token, the haul planner adds up your picks in V-Bucks and dollars. If you're still hunting, the chest simulator shows how long the hunt could take, and the main Fortnite token guide covers how the token works.

Price game FAQ

Does everyone get the same daily questions?

Yes. The daily challenge is generated from the shop date, so every player sees the same 10 pairs until the shop rotates at 00:00 UTC.

Where do the prices come from?

From today's Fortnite Item Shop via fortnite-api.com. Prices are the current V-Bucks price, including any discount, so they match what you'd see in the game.

Are bundles included?

No. Only single offers are used, because bundle prices depend on what's inside and would make the game a guessing contest.
